Trip to MD Anderson Memories

Last year we made our trip to MD Anderson in hopes they would have some treatment or plan that could save her. It didn't happen, but I am so grateful that Heather and Mike allowed me to tag along. It was a long drive (most of which Mike took care of) and a lot of together time. I was so proud of this family for their patience and love they showed one another through it all.

The VIP Tour of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium was amazing, but this picture reflects my favorite part of the trip. Those that know me know I grew up with a father that was a Cowboy. He was happiest around the rodeo and this couple shown here is a big part of the reason for that. The gentleman was in my opinion the best bullfighter and barrel man ever. Rick Young and his wife Bernie hold a special piece of my heart. As a young girl, they always treated me like someone important, they always had time to chat with me and they never made me feel like a bother.

I let them know we were coming to town and they invited us over to hang out and we laughed and told stories for hours. The boys were so interested in all of it and loved looking at all the memorabilia too. Giving them the hug when we left was extra emotional. We live so far away and we knew that the odds we would be back to see them both were not great.

I am so happy that we spent that day and got to make those memories because now two of them are hanging out and left the rest of us behind for now. I want to picture Heather and Rick with my Dad, my Mom, Quail and so many others. I am glad we took the time to snap a few pictures. Like my daughter, Jill, always says - everyone complains about pictures, but afterward they are always happy to see them.

Take the pictures, be in them even if you don't look your best. And any chance you get to make a good memory - take it. The Good Lord is the only one that knows how much time we have in this life. He knows when we will all be called home, so laugh with your friends and loved ones, enjoy spending time with those that mean so much to you. And always - always be thankful for every moment and be grateful for at least one thing each and every day.

Thanks for the continued prayers for our family as we continue to try to get through this time in our lives. Your friendship and support means
the world to us.
